I have not updated my Net Prophets blog for a while. I’m doing so now and removing extraneous blog posts that have likely confused visitors to the site. The reason for those posts is that I had begun two new blog web pages and several Facebook Group pages since. I’ll provide links to those other pages at the end. In the meantime, I’m ‘cleaning up’ this blog. I shall also in the near future add lectures my Prophets of the (inter)Net have given in the intervening five years. Until I do that, you still have over 250 video lectures to keep you happy.
I began Net Prophets just five years ago this month when I discovered that among the many things- good and bad- that could be found on Youtube were some of my favorite Christian thinkers.
It occurred to me that I might provide a service for the church by archiving these on a blog and then communicating these lists of lectures via Facebook. So I did that. The pictures above are indicative of the people I have included. If I have left out persons whom you find stimulating, email me (rev dot bud at mac dot com), and I’ll seek out their lectures- if they be found on Youtube- and archive them as well.
In a lecture I’ve included given at a conference on the future of the church sponsored by Harvard, Marcus Borg (blessed be his name) predicted that adult christian education was the major need for the coming church. I could see the lists of lectures I have compiled here being part of that. Any religious educator or class teacher could assign a series of lectures for their class. The students are able to resource the lectures on their computers or smart phones when and where they want. And when your class or congregation gathers, everyone is prepped for discussion.
If you do this, please let me know to include on this blog which videos you used, how you did it, how it went, and any hand-outs to facilitate the discussion. Be in touch through my email or post it on the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/interNETPROPHETS/
For persons who might be interested in my other blogs and pages, here they are:
